A great methodological approach. The notion is to utilise both the left and right cerebral cortex of the brain in order to stimulate more brain activities that allows for enhanced recall. Further, recalling images (eg. the parrot) have been proven by Haber’s experiment to be exceedingly better than trying to recall words. Thus, recalling the image (visual symbol) serves as a cue (commonly described as the stimulus and response effect) for extracting that specific word required from your brain.
