You could become an ecologist specializing in rainforests and get a job with research companies that work in the rainforests. Lots of drug companies send doctors and researchers into the rainforests to look for new sources of drugs. You could also be a lawyer and work for the government, fighting against the deforestation.
Good luck!

Because of the increasing deforestation as you mentioned, many local governments are wanting more researchers to help conserve the forests. You could do this type of work with degrees ranging from a bachelors to masters or PhD. Though I would think the most common thing to do would be to earn a PhD in ecology and work for a university, teaching courses and doing field research. Some people just do research. There are even some organizations that will hire these people to teach summer or semester programs in the rainforest. I was in Costa Rica last year to do ecological research and it is amazing. Maybe you could try to do such a thing to figure out if that’s the type of thing you want to do. You mentioned that you wanted to actually study the actual rainforest, but I wanted to mention that some anthropologists even work with educating the local people on how to practice better farming and other things to help protect the forests. However, as you said, awareness is mostly increased by studying and learning about the actual organisms that all interact together to make the forest what it is. Hope this might help you.

Ecology
Rainforest Science
Anthropology
Botany
Environmental Science
Biology
Mostly includes counting trees, bugs and other stuff. You need to have a good mathsstats background. Especially for ecology.
Start by getting a degree at your nearest University first.
I have done a bit of ecology stuff such as counting tree species populations and densitiesdistributions, but its not my cuppa tea. I’d rather bang rocks together that’s why I’m a Geo.
Good luck

sounds like you need a wildlife biology degree if your wanting to study animal or a Botony degree if your interested in studing the flora and fauna. An ecology degree would work to . just look up careers that your interested in on hotjobs or career builders to find out the qualification.

Hi,
Sounds like a neat place to see. I would recomend a study in Environmental Science and or Biology. Though not currently doing anything in that field my major in college was Environmental Science. I have been on a cruise and one of the shore excursions in the Carribean was to a rain forest, I can’t believe how beautiful they are and think it is a shame hat people want to come in and cut down or deforest these areas. In college we studied some of these areas and I know how much good the rain forest do for the world, not to mention the thousands of unknown species of wild life.
Good luck:)
