Vibrato wasn’t used yet in the baroque era. I think he has the right sound because it isn’t vibrato-less and flat. It’s dry, but still energetic.

mmm…
you move a lot.. but everything is great, but it looks like overactuated :/

Over all extremely nice! And I really like the fact that you are being accompanied by a small chamber orchestra and not a larger group. The application of terraced dynamics is so often neglected when performing Vivaldi’s compositions.

Here is an effective little tip for helping to keep your bow straight:
Think of keeping your ELBOWS CLOSER all the time, even when you are playing near the tip of the bow.

5/5

good!! a couple critiques, though…
try to use the middle of the bow
from 2:40 to 2:30, make sure you just ATTACK those notes. forte, sharp, crack them apart!! trill those trills furiously, and espically the g string notes just make the violin screech them loudly.
just polish a smidge on intonation.
but you sound and move goodl. congrats on winning the competition.

What number in the RV catalogue is it?

Yes and baroque pieces are supposed to be light, but there again, Vivaldi is quite red-haired (literally). Good try for this violinist anyway

Wow. He is fantastic!! Try using more of the middle of the bow, it will give you more bow control and allow you to make more sound.

venom486 October 25, 2009 at 1:59 am

Very lovely! I really enjoyed playing this piece myself. He does very well with maintaining a crispness which I really do love.

bulboflight October 25, 2009 at 2:04 am

orcmaster123456789 October 25, 2009 at 2:53 am

yeah, meto

musicrocks9 October 25, 2009 at 3:37 am

You play better when your not stiff and tense, so moving a lot is alright, as long as it doesn’t interfer with your bowing and stuff.
But he’s just really into the piece and has confidence.

theamericanchinese October 25, 2009 at 3:58 am

god dammit, he moves so much (even more than me, and that’s a lot.)

Freedomstarcat October 25, 2009 at 4:20 am

Great job

Asianminnii October 25, 2009 at 5:08 am

I’m playing this piece, too =) But I don’t manage to play the part at 1:33 to 1:35 … I’m always too slow . … :(

liz10782 October 25, 2009 at 5:58 am

Oh. My. Gosh. This is so amazing I cannot believe your skill! I just got the music for this and let me just say alot of work will be needed to get to this level. Bueno Job!

PaganiniCanon October 25, 2009 at 6:39 am

dude, your very good. you played the difficult parts in this song very well. better than me anyway. you played this song perfect.

mrsherman109 October 25, 2009 at 7:31 am

this is good. however, I think there is a little to much vibrato and legato note for baroque. But the tone is great.
