Just remember that you have to be fit and it helps to be physically strong BUT it’s 90% mental. Being a corrections officer is no joke, so be real sure you’re going into it for the right reasons. If you’re just going for the pay and benefits you could die in the joint… It’s a deadly serious propostion.

Number one don’t call them guards, they are corrections officers and no it ain’t fun. Your dealing with people who are put in a correctional setting because they broke the law and many would kill you in a second without any remorse what so ever.

18 for county jail, 21 for prisons..
So I would think that it’s for those ages but I don’t know :s

Its easy go online and set a screening for where ever you location is. U have to have a high school diploma. And no felony. Hummm on the screening u will take a test of 100 question’s/ Its not hard at all. U will get paid salary. But its a real easy job. Each month u will get paid 2178 dollars. And your credit will become very good. Real cool job.

The music in this video makes the adult correctional academy seem like it would be a happy place to work at! I should look into it.. :)

How does one become a guard? Do Gaurds get paid a lot of money? DO guards get to walk around with a night stick like in the movies? I would like to check out becoming a jailer. It looks like fun…

boostghost October 24, 2009 at 2:25 pm

Yes it’s an adult correctional officer academy to work in county jails.

We ran a mile to 1.5 miles 3-4 times a week. You can do it at your own pace, there was no Drill Instructor running after us.

JSOMBRIO October 24, 2009 at 3:29 pm

I just graduated from this Academy in October. The staff was great and it was fun. You learn a lot in the six weeks. Anyone interested in attending I recommend it.
