Thanks for posting the photographs! I played the instrument decades ago and could only imagine how its internal parts looked!
Yea hearing it person was a highlight of my trip.
I went to Girard and was privileged to hear the Skinner several times a week for ten years. The tour of the pipes in the ceiling was just amazing and the Chapel itself is a beautiful. That the College spent $100,000 to purchase the organ in 1932 was certainly worth it; it is one of the finest organs in the world according to Virgil Fox and Carlo Curley. You have to hear it and see it in person to really appreciate it.
Eny pipe can be wood and Metal .. From 2 foot to 32 to 64 Foot Reed to String Stops
At last(!), photos of the pipework of Opus 872!! Thanks, bombarde for this. Because this is one of EMS’s later works, I always thought the 32′ Bombarde was metal, but now I know it’s wooden.
