If your family is low income and you can get in to Harvard, you get a full scholarship. But Harvard is very, very difficult to get into. They reject students with perfect GPAs every year.
Nothing you do in 8th grad shows up in your college application, unless you are involved in an activity through high school (ie Girl Scout 2004-2012 or Smith County Soccer 2006-2013).
All I would reccomend for now is doing the best you can in school. College applications are years away.

Why do you want to go to those schools? Do you have a specific major in mind that they are the best school for, or are you just picking out the few schools you’ve heard of? Many top schools don’t give academic scholarships (everyone there is smart) just need-based. What would look good for Harvard? Being a top Hollywood actor, being a best-selling authors, being the daughter of a president, winning the Westinghouse science competition, things like that. Every top student in the world is applying and they only take 7% of them.

start getting all A’s because thats what you need for ivy leaue school. (you can make one or two b’s) Get EXCEPTIONAL grades on your SAT or ACT. Do alot of community service and other activities like sports if that is what you like. Take a couple SAT subject test also in junior year because you need those for IVY leagues Also, take as many AP classes as you can. work hard and it will pay off.
oh yeah and if you are talking about georgia tech, then that is an EXCELLENT school. i actually live in georgia and it is a very good school, one of the top public schools in the nation.

I don’t think it’s ever too early to get prepared for college. I think that in ninth and tenth grade is when you should start thinking about scholarships. Tenth grade you can probably get a job and work on the money ordeal. Some of what looks good on a college application is being in extracurricular activities. Anything like Girl Scouts or volunteering somewhere looks good on an app too.
